Here is an illustration of the quote of Albert Camus "what I know most surely in the long run about morality and obligations, I owe to football.”, french writer of "the plague" and "the stranger" and Literature Nobel Prize.. This quote is from his posthumously published book : "The First Man" : a biographical work with some chapters dedicated to his football passion when he was a young boy.

The whole picture is made of little drawings, based on the story "the first man" and when you put alltogether ans stepback, it makes the picture of a football player leg of the 30's with a vintage soccer ball (the kind of equipment Albert Camus used to have to play soccer) !

Have a closer look to his boat and you will see plenty of details about "the writer and footballer" :

  • Alger in the 30's
  • Albert grew up poor and educated by his grand mother
  • Good student, his favorite time at school were at noon and 4pm : soccer time !
  • Rich or poor, educated or not : "football is for everyone"
  • He couldn't afford new shoes so he decided to play as goalkeeper
  • He plays for the Alger Racing Club but left at 17 because of tuberculosis
  • Forced to quit Sports, he dedicate his life to literature
